CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION This paper is an analysis of the novel The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle. Arthur Conan Doyle was natural the third of ten siblings in Edinburgh, Scotland. Conan Doyle was sent to the Roman Catholic Jesuit preparatory school Hodder Place, Stonyhurst, at the age of nine. From 1876 to 1881 he studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, including a period operative in the town of Aston and in Sheffield.
