The speaker describes a nightmarish prospect: the falcon, turning in a widening gyre (spiral), cannot strike the falconer; Things fall apart; the center cannot hold; revolt is loosed upon the beingness; The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere / The ceremony of innocence is drowned. Surely, the speaker asserts, the world is near a revelation; Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
