            An archetype is a primordial image, character, story, symbol, situation or class that recurs throughout literature and thought consistently enough to be considered a universal concept or situation. 
            The word is from classical archetypos, meaning original pattern from which later things are made.  The shape was brought into literature from the psychology of Carl Jung*. 
            Because these dumbfounds are a part of both person, these experiences are present in myths, religions, dreams, fantasies, and in literature .  This native image based on all human experience is called an ARCHETYPE. 
            When you come across an archetype in literature, if you are non trained, to recognize that particular symbol, you unconsciously react to the archetype.  The images in your melodic theme merge with the image in the literature to become one.  in one case you become aware of some basic archetypal figure, you leave behind soon recognize them in most of what you read.

Jung felt that behind each someones unconscious, or blocked-off holdover of the past, there is the corporate unconscious of the entire human race.  In other words, in your brain is stored all the history of the human race.



  This unconscious racial memory makes powerfully effective for us the primitive images shape by the repeated experience of our ancestors.

Simply put, ARCHETYPES are frequent SYMBOLS.

2.      Are the genetical parts of being human which connects us to our past and goes beyond our personal experience to a common source?
3.      Are not directly knowable but instead usher themselves in forms.
4.      Grow out of humanitys social, psychological, and biologic being.
5.      Are universal.
