As an existential therapist, I would still embrace and feel autocratic toward the basic goals of existential therapy but I would not feel snug be as directive as this form of therapy a great deal requires of the therapist. Also, it seems to me that existential the
apy assumes that the therapist mustiness have a strong notion of what it means to be a human being, and be able to then go through this notion in terms of directing the client.
I think that believing I really have a cooking stove on what it means to be a human being is pretty close to the height of arrogance. I would find attempt to "come from this place" of knowledge in terms of workings with clients confusing in the extreme and I would not the like trying to do it.
Given all of the foregoing, I must say that my general opinion of existential therapy is that it has some positive elements and clearly specifies goals that would benefit almost any person in terms of helping him or her to become more full engaged and aware of their lives.
