SOCIAL SECURITY earn REQUEST
to obtain a brotherly Security Number
for F-1, J-1 degree-seeking students

& hair; F-1 and J-1 students who request a garner from the ISSO intending to give way for a Social Security Number (SSN) testamenting switch to present proof that he/she is engaging in, or has secured use.

• J-1 students who are not ASU sponsored must cont symbolise their course sponsor (IIE, LASPAU, USAID) to obtain a Social Security letter.
• Students on CPT or OPT do not desire to request for a Social Security letter. Instead you will provide your CPT I-20 or EAD card.

Please note: Current students including those on CPT cannot apply for an SSN more than 30 days before the job start date and OPT students cannot apply before the employment start date listed on your EAD card.

Application Procedure

1. Submit to the ISSO a letter from your on-campus employer See reverse side for a examine letter. The letter must be placed in a sealed envelope marked SOCIAL SECURITY LETTER REQUEST.
2. You will receive notification from ISSO for additional requirements if necessary.
3.



Complete documents will be adjudicated within 10 to 14 working days.
4. You will receive an email notification from ISSO to pick up the letter and other applicable documents (i.e. I-20 if new student, directions and further instructions).
5. If you are futile to pick up the document yourself, you may give an license letter with your signature to the ISSO naming a person to act as your proxy in picking up the document.
